After almost four years of trying to wear a CPAP and not getting as
much benefit as I’d hoped, I asked my dentist for an anti-snoring
appliance that (I read) offers much the same result. I picked it up
yesterday and wore it last night for the first time. It’s a damn
strange feeling — as if my mouth were crammed with extra teeth that
don’t fit — but I slept well and didn’t have to deal with the Alien
face-hugger mask.

We’re in the middle of a week of winter storms — about as bad as it
gets here. Heavy rain is accompanied by strong, gusty winds. If it
were cold enough to snow, these would be blizzard conditions. Even the
dogs don’t like to be out in this weather. We try to wait for a letup
to go to the dog park, but even if it’s not raining when we go, it’s
still a morass. — Phil

We sampled the stout one week after the bottling. Yummmm! Hints of
coffee, and no “sharp edges” to the flavor–which makes me happy.

Betsy sent squeaky toys to Chester and Kai. They were thrilled. For
the first ten minutes Kai wasn’t actually able to play with either
one, since Chester kept grabbing away whichever one Kai took. But
Chester calmed down eventually and consented to share.

Our first brew turned out beautifully, so we’ve already brewed a
second batch. This is a stout — dark and a little sweet. We’ll be
bottling this weekend, and we have a third kit (honey wheat) ready to
go after that.
