After a rain a couple of weeks ago, I saw dozens of snails on a wild fennel plant at the dog park, including this one, who was apparently trying to reach the fresh growth on another stem.

Well, I sorted my thread and sorted my buttons and took a few minutes to play with my dolls. Is there anything else about de-cluttering that I’ve forgotten?

Shame on me! How could I have forgotten Janet and Kathy’s anniversary? And how could I have taken so long to post this unforgettable scene?

We’re still recovering from a hectic week. Over the seven days March 13-19 (Sunday through Saturday) we had three rehearsals and two performances of the Beethoven Missa Solemnis with Cantare Con Vivo (http://cantareconvivo.org), bottled beer, took the dogs for their first-ever overnight boarding experience, and contended with rain, wind, and a hailstorm.

Callix and I stopped at the cemetery this morning. I found these shell roses in one of the boxes at Ed’s upstairs in the garage. The one labeled “Betsy has designated this as temporarily keepers.” From 1986. I think after 25 years, “temporary” has expired.

Two years ago yesterday (March 14, 2009) I brought Dad home with me. Janet reminded me I hadn’t posted this photo taken in Derry right before we left.

We got to Point Isabel this morning just as the outflow from the first tsunami surge was abating. We could see the next surge as a horizontal line across the bay a couple of miles out. I captured six minutes of video showing the surge starting from about a mile out, through the inundation of the channel that divides the park. This two-minute excerpt shows the surge hitting the rocks and flowing up the channel.

The shaky part in the middle is just me climbing down off the picnic table I was standing on. And of course Chester had to get himself into the frame a couple of times.
