This lap ain’t big enough for the both of us!

Osiris was competing with Kai for both attention and lap time at Point Isabel today. Of course Kai eventually won, but it was looking like he might not when I took this pic. Osiris is a dog park friend.

Three years ago

Three years ago we were spending our first full day in Norway.

It was Syttende Mai, (May 17 — see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_Constitution_Day ), 2008, the national holiday, and due to Arlin’s high-level family connections, we got a place in the square right in front of the royal palace.

It was also the coldest Syttende Mai in 50 years, and it had snowed (lightly) overnight. There were showers during the morning parade, but the weather cleared and the afternoon was very nice.

We watched the parade with Arlin’s distant cousins Kari Mette and Unn Kristin, and then walked around Oslo to see Frogner Park (with the sculptures of Gustav Vigeland) and the old fortress.

God will observe time zones when the world ends

Good to know:

On May 21, “starting in the Pacific Rim at around the 6 p.m. local time hour, in each time zone, there will be a great earthquake, such as has never been in the history of the Earth…”

So Chile, I guess, comes first. But wait a minute — by then it will already be May 22 across the International Date Line. Ooh, my head hurts.
