Dragonfly Ranch

Tonight Arlin finished weaving the stole he will wear when he officiates at Elise and Brian’s wedding on May 26 in Evansville, Minnesota. (Technically, he finished the weaving yesterday, and he tied up the fringes this evening.) It’s easy to spot the white cross, but not so easy to see the red heart down low on the other side. 

We’ve started to gain a population of feral cats again, after a couple of years when they’d all disappeared. This gray cat has been hanging out in the plantings next to the garage construction. On the day I took the photo, the cat was relaxing on the slab next to the electrical box. Kai stood stock still for several minutes watching it from ten feet away. Then he sat down while the cat stretched and walked off. Meanwhile Chester wanted to chase the cat, and I tried to hold him back. I don’t know how I got a photo while trying to hold Chester, but I managed it.

We went to UC Davis on Wednesday, May 9, for Kai’s second post-treatment checkup. They found him “bright, alert, and responsive”, with no sign of cancer spread.

He’s getting a bit gimpy from arthritis, though. We’ve gotten him a ramp to help him get up into the car. Happily stairs aren’t a problem yet.

Chester was incredibly good while I was having lunch in Davis. He snoozed beside the table the whole time. But then he’s usually good in Davis. Maybe he thinks he has to be, so that I won’t leave him at the hospital like Kai.
