Fritz
This little guy (terrier mix? 15-20 pounds? 6-9 months old?) was wandering right outside our door yesterday evening when I took Kai and Chester out at 5:00 pm. He had no collar (he’s wearing one of Chester’s old collars here). He had no chip. He did have fleas and worms, but we’re working on that. He’s a sweetheart, and he’s made himself right at home. Within an hour he was napping on Arlin’s lap.
We don’t want or need another dog, but he’s awfully hard to resist. We’re calling him Fritz. The least we can do is find a good home for him.

Kizzy
Another of Callix’s BFFs. Kizzy has learned the best line of defense is to sit down. If she ain’t moving, it deters Callix.

Kirby and me
I think I look pretty natural. Just me, the horse and the prairie.

Betsy’s retirement home
We’ve been daydreaming about this property ever since Arlin discovered it (it’s next door to a friend and former coworker’s house in the foothills near Yosemite). There are 5 acres (in two lots), all fenced, with a small house, a pool, and loads of outbuildings.
Now Betsy and the two of us have put in an offer. We’re hopeful, but it’s a short-sale property (meaning the current owners’ bank will have to agree to take less than they owe), so it will take a while and there are no guarantees, of course.
Arlin and I went there in August and stayed overnight with the dogs. These are a few pictures from that visit.
The native trees are live oaks, but the property is planted with a variety of other trees. I’ve included pictures of plum, fig, olive, and palm.
The dogs enjoyed the pool and helping feed the chickens.

It’s nice to know I’m not completely useless …
… apparently I make a pretty good cat bed.

Callix at Day Care
The folks at Nauset Pet Services got a kick out of this. Callix is usually towering over all the other pups.
