Goodbye to Carlton

Yesterday we said our farewells to Carlton, aka Mr. Barkey, aka Mr. B. He was only with us for five months but managed to rule our schedules during that time. When Mr. B. Wanted a snack, Mr. B. Got a snack. When Mr. B. wanted to go out, his entourage accompanied him. He came to us of unknown background and unknown age, and we tried to give him a comfortable last few months. Over the last few days, he began to lose stability in his (relatively) “good” hind leg, stumbling and falling.

e was a pain in the butt, special needs, neurotic boy with a sweet soul.

Cooper’s hawk

This Cooper’s hawk was hanging around near the bird feeders, apparently for much of the day. I started it twice from its hangout in a dense shrub. According to my sources, the Cooper’s likes to stalk feeders. It may be responsible for the mess of feathers I found under a feeder yesterday.

Il faut manger, right?
