For those of you who don’t know, my birthday present to myself this year was, you guessed it, a dog.

Gus was a stray, taken in by Animal Compassion Team in Fresno. He was adopted and returned and was then fostered in Raymond until we brought him home to Dragonfly Ranch. Seems to be a Sheprador (shepherd lab mix).
He’s a big doofus, 5 years old, with a way lot of energy. Quite a change from our usual senior dogs. He’s been with us six weeks now and is settling in nicely.
Fritz is learning tolerance. And every once in a while they play until Gus gets to be too much and Fritz tells him to get lost. Sometimes Gus has a bit too much exuberance.

Gus is heartworm positive, as so many strays are, and we are going with the so-called soft treatment with antibiotic and Heartgard. The intensive treatment requires 30 days of restrictions on activity and ain’t none of us up for that.
