June — I mean, February — is bustin’ out all over

We’ve had about 16 inches of rain since November 1 — not exactly an end to the drought, but a big step in the right direction.

We had only about 6 inches for the entire previous rain year, July 2014-June 2015. Even with irrigation, we had virtually no harvest last summer — no apricots, no plums, very few apples and figs.

But now with some real rain, and temperatures around 70 this week, some of the trees can’t wait to bud, the narcissus won’t quit, and we have a few roses and some iris.

Wish us more rain and no freezes, please.
