I bought a scythe a couple of weeks ago from scythesupply.com — hand made in Maine, except for the blade, which is Austrian. The neighbors probably think I’m crazy, but I’m trying to mow the old way, without the noise and pollution of riding mowers and weed whackers. I mow for an hour or two each morning. It’s not really hard work if you do it right, and it’s good exercise and even fun.

(Yes, the rose garden needs weeding.)
