We’re getting a brand-new grand piano! I’m taking lessons again after 40 years, and I need a decent piano, so I’m treating myself.

It’s a 7-foot Ritmüller (made in China, despite the name). None of the shorter pianos I played appealed to me as much as this one.

Unfortunately, though the living room has plenty of space, the two 90-degree turns in our stairs make it a little difficult to get it up there. Three movers couldn’t get it beyond the downstairs hallway today while keeping the long side down, so they’re coming back with an extra guy tomorrow to try again with the keyboard side down. Wish us luck.

The tape measure in the living room is extended to 7 feet. As I said, plenty of space.
