Kai

Kai had his fifth radiation treatment today. He has them on weekdays at UC Davis veterinary hospital. He is staying with Dawn, a veterinary technician on weeknights and comes home on weekends. I had the privilege of delivering him yesterday and he was such a good boy. It was heartbreaking to leave him there: he turned and looked back repeatedly, skidding his feet on the slippery floor as he was led into the exam room.

Since the surgery, he has been so energetic and happy. Even after his first three radiation treatment last week, he was so full of life. We don’t expect that he will be so energetic as the treatments go on, but this first weekend sure was encouraging to us … and I hope Kai is encouraged by his progress, too.

We will know more later, of course, but for now Kai is doing pretty well.

He's a trooper and so are you guys. We're with you in spirit as you go through this–he might surprise you with his resilience. Often the "treatments" and the protocol are harder on us than on them. Sending love, J & K & Jerry
